The Bible says that there are basic things that a person must do in order to go to heaven; Being Born Again, Being Baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, Receiving the Holy Spirit and Living Holy.
Jesus said that unless a man is born of water (water baptism) and of the Spirit (receiving the Holy Ghost), he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3-5). According to Jesus Christ, being baptized and receiving the Holy Ghost are necessary in order to go to heaven.
Water baptism is necessary in order to be born again and wash away our sins. The Bible tells us that everyone who was baptized, was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. There are no recorded scriptures in the Bible where someone was baptized in any other way except the name of Jesus Christ. Relevant Scriptures: Acts 2:38, Acts 8:16, Acts 10:48, Acts 19:5
Receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost is what Jesus Christ refers to as “being born of the Spirit”. The Bible tells us that when a person receives that Holy Ghost that they will “speak with new tongues” (Mark 16:17) or speak with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives the utterance (Acts 2:1-4).
“Ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.” (Leviticus 11:45) God has commanded us to live a righteous and holy life before him because He is holy. To be the true children of God that He wants us to be, we must follow the guidelines that God has laid down and keep our hearts, mind and bodies pure from sin.
There is only one God (Deuteronomy 6:4). He is the creator of heaven and earth, and of all living beings. He has revealed Himself to humanity as the Father (Creator), in the son (Savior), and as the Holy Ghost (indwelling Spirit) (Colossians 2:8-10).
